December Blogging Meme Topic #19:
What do you think of the first two installments of the BBC4 Good Omens radio dramatization [that is running from December 22nd - 27th]?

I've literally just listened to them live; I've been looking forward to answering your question almost more than any other that's come in. The one piece of voice-casting about which I was the most concerned, Aziraphale, is the one I love most! Mark Heap is doing such a delightful job. I was slower to warm to Peter Serafinowicz as Crowley in spite of the fact that my initial projection was that I thought I'd like him more, but he got less one-note and more expressive in the second episode. Anathema and Adam have such great chemistry I could cry. They kept several of my favorite early scenes in the novel almost entirely intact: the birthday party, hitting Anathema with the Bentley, Adam and Anathema chattering away in Jasmine Cottage, and the paintball cock-up at Tadfield Manor. They've done a far better job than I ever dreamed they would, so that's worth celebrating.

(Are the episodes playable after the fact?)

Yes! For four weeks, even: if you click the link I've given above as hypertext in part of vaysh's question, it will take you to the page where you can listen.

oh, precious, I hope this means your inspiration will flow a little GO-ways, eh? the magic of radio shows XD

(I guess this is more to your next post with links, but! same thought, anyway)

I just spent a lot of time on something (10k-ish) that won't go live till May, so you can rest assured my inspiration is already there ;)

Oh, dear, that's a long wait, but I'm terribly excited for new GO material!

That's not to say other things in the interim are impossible, but I've spent a lot of energy in the past few weeks on my holiday exchange / other festival content and now I'm wiped out :-/

I know you need all the rest you can get *hugs* I'm just patiently optimistic about the likeability of other things in the interim, given your creative patterns :)

My holiday is already more person-crowded than years past, so the real trick would be grabbing time ;)

♥ It's wonderful to read your review of last nights airing of the beginning of the radio adaptation. I agree: they did a wonderful job. It took me the first ten minutes they accept that it's an adaptation and not an audiobook. ;) I was surprised at how much I like the voices, the Them, too. Aziraphale's voice is pretty much my headcanon voice for him. :)

Oh, undoubtedly you have to put up with silly things like the awkward info-dump added dialogue and the fact that they did away with Nanny Ashtoreth and Brother Francis being entities separate from Crowley and Aziraphale, etc. They cut corners where it made sense to cut corners for narrative expediency in the medium.
