I still have you to thank for my very awareness of SH in the first place; I remember it was late 2004 or early 2005 that you pointed me to a short story there that I'd probably like, and the rest is history...
It took me about four or five years of constant submissions before I started to break through at all. I will note that my breakthrough occurred when the poetry editorial staff practically changed overnight a couple of years ago, though, so it may have everything to do with how those currently holding the editorial reins regard your work. Clearly the old guard weren't so hot on mine, whereas the current guard (which, ironically, are down to a skeleton crew again) have found something useful. Seriously, under the old guard? I had nearly twenty rejections in a period of two years, and then I just stopped for a while, and by the time I started submitting again, it was a new batch of names on the poetry staff section.
She sends me parcels of honey collected by bees in her own orchard, season by season, and sometimes special guest honeys, too (i.e. the dog-rose honey I had most recently that was just breathtaking).
It is less than I owe *you*! -- lovely poetry -- book recommendations -- discussion of honey, gemstones, and the ways of the heart -- drawing doors on solid walls at the bottom of dead ends, and opening them on to different landscapes... Thank you, and I drink to your health and happiness tonight.
