Never rains but it pours...
My father's having surgery tomorrow for malignant melanoma on his back. I didn't even know he'd been diagnosed until yesterday, so this has been a trying 24 hours, hearing all the details unravel. I'm kind of cold right now; words aren't coming easy. I'm just tired.

James and I are off to Llangollen, Wales for Uncivilization on Thursday morning, and we'll be gone till Monday of next week. My poetry reading at the festival falls on Saturday, so if you're going to be there, do drop by.

Good luck to your Dad and to you for the reading!

Many thanks. If my sense of time in New Mexico right now is correct, he'll be going under in about an hour or so.

Many hugs, and many good thoughts for your dad. I hope everything turns out OK!

Ach. *hugs* Wishing him all the best, and a speedy recovery.

*hugs* Thank you. It's been sort of difficult, getting across to him that he doesn't need to keep things like this all to himself.

Best wishes for you and your family!

Many thanks. Updates by morning, I'm certain.

I'm absolutely heartsick for your family. I sincerely hope the surgery goes every bit as successfully as possible, and that they can get it all. I just absolutely hope for the best. *hugggs*

(Apparently there's been far more unpleasantness than I could ever have guessed. I swear, the man is so very good at keeping secrets...)

Thank you *hugs* I'll update by tomorrow when I know how things have gone.

Your poor dad! And poor you! I hope his op goes smoothly and successfully. Take care! Sounds like you deserve a break.

Well, James and I are off to Wales from tomorrow through Monday for a literary festival, so that's something. Might make my family keeping me informed somewhat difficult, however, if it turns out to be a mobile-reception black hole...

I hope he's okay and the surgery goes well!

Wish I could drop by to give you a hug. Break a leg, friend—you'll be lovely and fabulous, I'm sure.

Thank you, dear *hugs*

Music: do you know Laura Veirs? I just got my hands on three of her albums today (Saltbreakers, July Flame, and Year of Meteors), and they're spectacular. Kind of thing you'd like.

That's the one day they're calling for rain *wry grin*

Hope all goes well with the surgery for your father - and good luck with the reading!

Thanks on both counts. There will, as always, be updates.

You and your family are in my thoughts.

Sincerely hoping for the best, for your dad and your family.

Best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery to your dad.

Enjoy Wales, too. Busy folk!

I haven't yet been to Wales, so this is going to be new.
