Poetry-wise, 2010 is also off to a very decent start...
In addition to having written what I feel are two quite good poems in the past three days, I was solicited this morning for a submission! This is a welcome change, as I've received no fewer than four rejections in the past two weeks. I was beginning to think my fortunes were set to turn in 2010, and not for the better, either.

Also, do I really have another eight days until BT hooks up our broadband? Good Lord. This living off my mobile phone pay-as-you-go access/loitering long past the time my food is gone in the café right across from our building is getting expensive...

As ever, my Rhysling-eligible poems are available here.

No local library? They're not all wifi'd up but almost certainly cheaper if wanting to do things like check email etc.

Yes, there's a local library - but it's a good far walk from where I live, and we've had two snowstorms this week. Walking distances at the moment is actually perilous because the UK is simply not properly equipped to keep pavements and roads cleared!

That is a pity! And yeah, the UK sucks at snow. We barely got any in central London - well, barely any that stuck - and TfL is running around going 'AHHHHH, THE SKY IS FALLING DOWN, THE SKY IS FALLING DOWN. ABANDON ALL HOPE!!! AAHHHH'.

Here in Yorkshire, we've been getting snow steadily every few days for at least three weeks - and though a little of it melts, not enough of it ever melts. There's a layer of ice at least an inch or so thick on most pavements, and at the moment, there's at least 3-4 inches of fresh snow on top of that. The problem keeps compounding itself, doesn't give the Councils time to sort it.

Oooh, that's a very exciting thing to have happen - yay for solicitation!

But boo for BT dithering so long. That's horrid. I don't know how I'd cope without internet...

I'm going mad, is how :-P
