James got called in to work yesterday, but they've given him tomorrow off.

As a result, my sense of time, space, and generally what day it is has been thrown off even more severely. Positive fallout: I'm getting a bit more fresh air, and I've had the time to read some novels that have been on my backlog for months (Passage, To Say Nothing of the Dog; next up, Palimpsest). Negative fallout: I'm still unemployed, and aside from the Ph.D. stuff, which I'm kind of running from at the minute given everybody else is on spring break, I'm bored.

(But hey: I've gotten a lot of writing done, and submissions are booming.)

That happens to me when I have to work a split shift, the way I have to do tomorrow. Up at 4:45, into work at 6, out at 8, back at 11, off at 6. Hnnnnnnnnnnnghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

What sort of job are you looking for?

Part-time administrative or office work to help pay the rent on our flat, as per usual. I don't finish the Ph.D. till September, so I can't really be looking for university posts until closer to finishing.
