Seer of ghosts & weaver of stories

(You are very much not forgotten)

Well, this crash was looming for weeks. I shouldn't be so shocked.
I've been awake for maybe 4-5 hours today, if that. Totally drugged for most of the past 48. This flu is brutal. Body-aches, sneezing, congestion, difficulty breathing...I haven't been this ill since I lived in Hartford as an undergrad, which is startling. Only preciousdark and permusicadastra will remember that, as they were two of the friends who nursemaided me for two and a half weeks. Fortunately, I think I've gotten better at nursemaiding myself. Looks a lot like laying hard on the drugs and sleeping as much as possible. The down-side is that I don't eat as much as I should, although I've finally eaten something and I swear I'm going to throw it up shortly.

I suppose you have seen a doctor ?
Anyway, I hope you'll get better. :)

Yes, finally yesterday - they told me I have a viral chest infection and inflamed tonsils. I can breathe a lot better today than I've been able to in the past three, which is a vast improvement.

This is actually the first I've been ill in over a year! My stomach woes don't count; those are chronic and practically a fact of life by now.

Poor you. I used to have so many flu attacks. Then I started getting flu vaccinations four years ago because my work place offered and I took it. Best decision ever. I sure hope the vaccine I got this year is for the virus you've got coz it sounds tough!

Feel better soon *hugs*

Weirdly, my doc says it's not flu after all - it's some kind of viral chest infection, and my tonsils are pretty inflamed, which accounts for the throat pain :-p

i'm so sorry about that. it can be a real nuisance, sapping one's productivity.

I won't go fighting. Still mind and manic fervor
ring strange in my veins, but I'll bear it.

i love hearing anglosaxonic rhythms/sounds, this struck me as an example.

I think I'm guilty of a lot of Anglo-Saxonic language. Comes of being an OE/ME scholar, right?

Bleh, hope you feel better soon!

Today is an improvement :) Still in bed, though.

Doing my best. I haven't been out of the house in four days now, except to truck my sick arse to the surgery last night via cab. Whee.

Ugh. Rest up and feel better soon.

I slept last night. I'm really grateful of that. I can breathe again today, or something resembling breathing, which means this is finally on the way out :)

I hope you feel better. I like the poem. It's very complex; I like how the concepts flow into one another.

My usual infernal ambiguity, in other words ;) Excellent.

Being ill around your birthday really sux!

But my astrology teacher told us that it is because you are at your 'solar low' during that time, which makes you more vulnerable.

And, I share in your pain because I've been battling the flu and now bronchitis for over 4 weeks! It's JUST beginning to go away - I've coughed so much that I've strained some muscles in my chest, and that makes each coughing fit SO painful!

Anyway, take care - and here's wishing for us BOTH to be well again, soon! At least by our birthdays!

I hope it's gone by the 20th. It had better be! James and I have a dinner reservation...

Ugh, your flu is way more wicked than mine. :( Hope you get better soon!

Still mind and manic fervor
ring strange in my veins, but I'll bear it.

My favourite bit.

I also like the rhyme at the end. Subtle, and the rhythms work really well.

Not flu, amazingly enough! It's some kind of viral chest infection with a side of inflamed tonsils. The trouble breathing has been my doc's primary concern, but it would appear I can kind of breathe again today. Hurrah!

Goodness, that sounds quite scary. Not being able to breathe properly is awful! Hope you get well soon - being ill is horrible. *hugs*

Are you well acquainted with Iron & Wine? I've been debating for weeks whether to introduce you to his song "The Trapeze Swinger" if you don't already know it. If you don't, all I can say is that its emotional effect on me is on par with, if not greater than, that of "Holding Your Hand" -- hence the debate. It's a real gut-puncher and brought me to hysterical tears. Sam Beam is a musical storytelling genius (probably stems from his history as a student/professor of film).

I know of Iron & Wine, but I don't know that particular song at all! Please share? Might be a kick in the pants that I need.
