Russian church missing, presumed stolen

(A church. As in, a whole church building.)

Actually your WTF attitude shows that you have never been to Eastern Europe and you no nothing of its ways.

It's just news, you know.

I know it's just news - which is why I would've made this post regardless of where this had taken place. If it had been a whole church vanishing somewhere in, say, Western Europe, or Canada, or America, I would still have found it somehow amusing/mystifying. I don't mean any offense to Eastern Europe by this, you know :)

Er, did they check for a giant invisibilty cloak tarp?

It doesn't say. I just find it rather impressive!

Carmen Sandiego and her V.I.L.E. henchmen are at it again!

I miss that game. And gameshow.

Yeah, it's very Eastern European, but coming from an Eastern European family (a great uncle once stole a barn, according to family legend, but my dad says that was a mistranslation), I am wtfing quite merrily too.

Oh, those Russians.

Your icon is ridiculous and awesome. :D

You tell me... My father's friends had a summer house stolen like that, lol.

...did they ever get it back?

Due respect to the first commenter, I HAVE spent time in Russia, and I DO know about this sort of thing (my parents have a few old church relics in our house, and we don't really know the provenance). And I can certainly understand why you would find this interesting ;) No worries.

It's just...heh. The idea of an entire building disappearing, any building disappearing, is surreal to me.

I find it thoroughly amazing and mind-boggling, that's for sure :)

They should rename it the Church of the Assumption!

xD You find the most spectacular things to post up. An entire church. Stolen. GENIUS!

My news sweeps are rather eclectic, so I think I just stumble on the stuff by default?

Oh, yeah - missing bricks from medieval ruins almost always mean they got recycled!

Those In Charge obviously weren't keeping a very good eye on it then!

It's amazing what you can do with a little cover from darkness...
