We leave tomorrow. So far, the agenda is looking like this:

  • Sunday: Get settled in at our hotel, which is not far from Montmartre and the Opéra Garnier. Head for the Centre Pompidou and spend the rest of the day browsing through the Musée National d'Art Moderne.

  • Monday: Louvre. Rendezvous with arcana_mundi at some point in the afternoon. More Louvre!

  • Tuesday: General running around and shopping - Montmartre, Champs Elysées, drinks at the Bar Sans Nom with arcana_mundi, etc. Freestyle, mostly. I want to see bits of the city I missed in '99.

  • Wednesday: Anything we happen to miss. Depart in the evening.

Yay :) I look forward to seeing them, as always.

I am jealous, jealous, jealous. I love Paris. Have fun!

I was there for a single day in '99 when I was an exchange student (I was staying just outside of Lille), so this is a catch-up trip.

I went for four days in 2007 and that was nowhere near enough time, so I can't imagine only having a single day to see things.

I hope you will have fun ! Paris is a wonderfull city.
Have you been there before or is it your first time ?

In '99, I stayed just outside of Lille as an exchange student for almost 2 months. I got to visit Paris for only a single day, which obviously wasn't enough!

(By the way, if you happen to be free to meet up for coffee or something on Tuesday? That would be lovely!)

(I would love to.
I have my whole sunday free, but on Tuesday my classes end at 4 pm... So I can be anywhere in Paris for 5 pm, name a place !)

No, I haven't. Maybe that's something for Tuesday?

Sainte-Chapelle, I'm not familiar with, but I'll look that up, too.

(Aha! I had wondered if you got those or not.)

Rude as the French are...I miss Paris. It was so beeyoootiful!

I've been to France twice now - that once in 1999 for an extended period, and again last year when James and I went to Mont St-Michel - and I can honestly say that I had no trouble with "rude" people, although on that one day in Paris, I did notice that some Parisians specifically can be brusque. I just chalk it up to most big cities, though!

Gah! But talking to you makes me realize how much I miss all of Europe. Everything over there is just a little different in all of the best ways.

I think they just don't like foreigners/tourists as much as the next person. Rude people in big cities. It does seem to be the trend because when I went up to Toronto with my friends for a concert a few years ago, everyone there was so rude! And everyone is always going on about how "nice" Canadians are.

Still, enjoy yourself! The Louvre is so very wonderful.
